Publisher’s Note

Music is the ornamentation of Silence says Swami Chinmayananda and a means to reach God says Swami Tejomayananda.

During Swara Sangam a seminar for music teachers of all the Chinmaya Vidyalayas Swami Tejomayananda himself an accomplished musician delivered a series of talks on Swara to Ishwara. Sangam means confluence. Swara means musical notes. Swara Sangam is the confluence of excellent music teachers to explore the role of music education in the overall development of school students.

The book covers various topics such as the science and the art of music the source and principles of good music and the symbolic and delightful aspects of music. Punctuated with stories anecdotes and jokes the talks pull at our heart strings and help us to fine tune our minds to find God through music.

Chinmaya Naada Bindu Team a unit of CCMT and the residential school of Indian classical music and dance published these talks in their souvenir released on the occasion of the inauguration of the school which has the vision of inspiring students to evolve from Swara to Ishwara.

Since these talks are enlightening for all CCMT considered it proper to transcribe them in book form for the benefit of everyone.
