Description
About the Book

It is gratifying to note that A Glance- Play on Tabla has come to light. Mr. Achyut Ram Bhandari, the writer, has met the long-felt need of tabla students and private learners of tabla.

Mr. Bhandari is a well known tabla prayer as well as a Teacher of Tabla at the Fine Arts campus of Tribhuwan University. This book is probably the first book on tabla-playing written in English.

I thank Mr. Bhandari for helping tabla learners and lovers by bringing out this book.

Back side of the Book

Created as a gift from a guru to his students, Mr. Bhandari has drawn from many years of university and international teaching experience to design a guide to the tabla that is as friendly and accessible as possible. For the beginner, there is a literally year of study and potential growth contained in these pages. Starting with the most fundamental aspects of the tabla, including sitting position and parts of the drum, the student is then guided through exercises and compositions that slowly progress from simple to complex. Advanced students will also be pleased to find clear presentations of important details, and valuable additional elements such as the non popular compositions.

Mr. Achyut Ram Bhandari holds an M.A. in Music from Allahabad music University in India. His band, "Om Shringara Nepal" has delighted audiences in Asia, Europe, and North America. When he is not on tour, Mr. Bhandari teaches tabla in Nepal.

Forward

I am very please to congratulate my colleague, Mr. Achyut Ram Bhandari, music teacher of Fine Arts campus, Tribhuvan University. His new book, A Glance-play on Tabla, is designed to help music students learn tabla in an interesting and enjoyable manner.

I believe this work to be the product of his long association with music as both a teacher and a professional. Through his in-depth study of the subject as well as table instrumental recital in numerous programs, he has established himself as a consummate as a consummate artist.

Mr. Bandhari's performances have captivated the hearts and ears of music lovers in Nepal and around the world. In addition to this, he has long been campaigning for the popularization of the tabla.

A Glance play on Tabla is the first book of its kind. I am sure that it will generate a keen interest among beginners as well as advanced students who are interested in understanding both the concepts and practice involved in playing table.
Wishing the book widespread popularity.
